Torrens/Wyndham Street Residents Group had applied for a grant to carry out a community project using a derelict site between Torrens Crescent and Wyndham Street. The site had been used for illegal dumping and attracted antisocial behaviour. With the grant the tenants were able to organise a “Meet the Neighbour” family fun day with neighbours volunteering their time to organise this community building event. By holding this event neighbours had the opportunity to consult with each other on how the derelict site which is owned by the NIHE could be used to improve community relations in the area and encourage more positive activity on the site.
