Interested in forming a Tenant Association?
An informal tenant group or Tenant Association is a group of people who live within the same area, working together to represent the views of their neighbours to make their communities a better place to live, enabling neighbours to get together to discuss common interests, get more involved with Radius and work together on service improvements and performance.
There are many reasons why people living in the same area may wish to form an informal group or Tenant Association to represent their neighbourhood:
- Campaign for something (e.g better service)
- Campaign against something (e.g problems)
- A group can have a bigger voice than you would individually
- Arrange social events and outings
- Gain or increase the sense of community in your area.
There are lots of benefits to having and been part of a tenant group/association:
- Opportunities to meet with neighbours and arrange social activities
- Discuss issues that need raised with Radius on behalf of neighbours
- Promote a healthier community and make your community a better place to live
- An opportunity to organise fundraising activities
- Apply for funding from Radius Community Chest or other funding opportunities.
Radius can help tenants set up a tenant group or Tenant Association by:
- Helping to arrange an initial meeting, organise venue, print invite letters
- Assist with setting up Constitution or Terms of Reference
- Support to register with Charity Commission
- Radius provide a one off £100 grant to help groups become formalised and set up a Tenant Association
Radius can also provide training for members to help them develop the skills they need to undertake their roles and responsibilities effectively.
