Julie graduated from the University of Ulster in 2001 with a degree in Psychology and Sociology with specialisms in Community and Welfare Studies. She then went on to study Law with Specialisms due to her keen interest in Community and Welfare Studies, working within the Community Advice Sector to advocate for and empower individuals.
To update her qualifications with the changes in the benefits system, Julie obtained the Law Centre WRAP certificate in advice, Housing Right’s Housing Adviser Training Programme and Advice NI’s Tribunal Representation Certificate along with updated training with Advice NI to reflect the evolving changes within Benefits and Welfare Reform.
Julie has been a Welfare Reform Adviser for many years within the voluntary advice sector and has specialised specifically with Appeal’s Work and Representation.
