Supporting Independent Living - Helping Shape Services for Older People

Fold Housing Association are hosting Supporting Independent Living on Friday 5 September, 9am - 1pm, Adair Arms Hotel, Ballymena. 

Eileen Patterson, Director of Housing said, ''This event will help shape the future delivery of services for older people and will also inform the current review of the Supporting People Programme in Northern Ireland. Fold Housing Association, in partnership with Supporting People, will launch the expansion of our Floating Support Service which enables older people to remain independent in their own home, into the Antrim and Ballymena areas.''

She added, ''This award winning Housing Support Service is making a tremendous difference to the lives of older people. It provides a vital supportive and preventative service, meeting all the objectives of the Transforming Your Care Agenda. By targeting the specific needs of individuals and designing the flexible service around those needs, Fold''s Floating Support Service is an excellent example of how the Supporting People Programme and Strategy can effectively support our older people with Active Ageing and at the same time manage the demands on the Health Service.''

Speakers include Mags Lightbody, Interim Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive; Eileen Patterson, Director of Housing Services, Fold Housing Association; and Dr Tony Stevens, recently appointed Chief Executive, Northern Health and Social Care Trust.
