Scheme Awards 2015

Each year Fold celebrates the success of our sheltered housing with tenants and residents at our Scheme Awards. Nominations received this year showed amazing things happening within our sheltered accommodation. Judging this year, again, was very difficult due to the high standard of entries from our sheltered schemes across Northern Ireland.

In summer 2015, our Best Kept Garden Judges Jill England, Board Member, David Crothers, Board Member and Chair of the Housing Sub-Committee, and Stephen Whittle, R&M Greenkeepers toured the nominated schemes and were very impressed by the gardens they visited. They expressed thanks for the warm welcome received at all the schemes.

The remainder of categories were judged in January 2016 by Deirdre Carr, Care Services Manager, Barbara Taylor, Business Account Manager and Margy Washbrook, former Director from Engage with Age. Feedback from them included how impressed they were with the wonderful things happening at our sheltered schemes and how great neighbours really can make a difference.

The winners were announced at our Tenants Forums in March 2016 at the Armagh City Hotel, The Lodge Hotel, Coleraine and Hilton Templepatrick Golf & Country Club. Holding three forums enabled us to invite more sheltered tenants along and also increased their chances of winning an award.

The events finished with lunch and a chance to relax and have a catch up with residents and staff from across Northern Ireland. Trip ideas were being shared and outings organised!
