Radius Housing is delighted to have won a prestigious Award in the annual RICS Awards, which celebrate inspirational initiatives across the built environment in Northern Ireland.
Radius Housing’s development at Rathgill Bangor won the top Residential accolade for its development which provides 179 high quality social homes designed for families of varying sizes and includes twenty homes which have been specifically designed to meet the requirement of designated complex need tenants. Along with social housing, Radius also provided a further 20 affordable homes at the development.
Anita Conway, Radius Director of Development said, “The build reflects the needs of families currently in the Bangor area. These new modern homes meet the requirements of the DFC Housing Association Design Guide (including Lifetime Homes and Secure by Design principles) and have an emphasis on fuel efficiency to minimise energy costs.
She added “Radius are delighted that this mixed tenure/mixed use development has been recognised for its innovation and inclusive design, signifying our commitment to build not just quality homes but successful communities”
Projects from across Northern Ireland won awards at a ceremony hosted by television presenter Paul Clark at the La Mon Hotel & Spa, Belfast, after 34 hugely diverse schemes were shortlisted in eight categories - Building Conservation, Commercial sponsored by Sika, Community Benefit, Design through Innovation sponsored by Forbo, Infrastructure, Regeneration sponsored by Mills Selig, Residential and Tourism & Leisure.

The Project of the Year Award is presented to the project which is judged overall as an excellent example of best practice by professionals working in both the built and natural environments and this year was scooped by The Tropical Ravine in Botanic Gardens. Two other projects were highly commended – the Connswater Community Greenway in the Community Benefit category and the Pump House, Portadown in the Regeneration category.'
