Helm launch Tenant Bursary Scheme

Helm Housing has launched a new Tenant Bursary Scheme, offering financial assistance to tenants wishing to further their career or education. 

Applicantions are open to tenants or members of their immediate family living within the Helm property. The tenant must have no arrears or records of anti-social behaviour. 

Successful applications will receive three payments of £400. Whilst the first payment will be given at the beginning of the course, the remaining payments will be subject to proof of course attendance and performance. The individual will also be required to provide a short synopsis of their progress and how the bursary has assisted them to date. The individual is permitted to spend the money on anything deemed relevant to the course such as course/residential fees, childcare, text books, laptop etc. The money may also be used to pay transport or purchase appropriate clothing to wear to an interview or to work experience. Helm will also provide a three month paid work experience placement, following the completion of the course, which will complement the further education undertaken. The rate at which this placement will be paid will be in accordance with the Living Wage recommendations. This currently stands at £7.85 per hour and is up-dated annually in November. During their placement, the individual will have access to learning and development opportunities such as job shadowing, relevant courses such as Health and Safety Awareness and interview skills, etc. In addition assistance in writing their CV will be provided.If you would like more information or to apply, download an information & application form by clicking here.
