With 25 care homes or day centres across NI there is a consistent requirement for these homes to be refurbished to ensure residents continue to receive the high-quality care they deserve and Millbrook’s renovation is part of our rolling 5-year strategic plans for review and renovation.

We use specialist care home building contractors to renovate and transform our care homes into modern, comfortable, and functional facilities.

Renovations, alongside excellent staff and care services not only enhance the facility and service levels within a community, but it also attracts more residents to the home.

Care home refurbishments can vary depending on the current age and condition of repair of the building, as well the needs of the residents.

A refurbishment might include major structural alterations if the building is in very poor condition. They may also include extensions or new buildings.

However, many care home refurbishments focus more on remodelling the inside of the existing building.

We are continuously evaluating our portfolio of care homes in response to the global financial crisis and its associated effects, such as rising materials and labour expenses.

The future is now

As our Care & Support programme of works continues, we are already underway by undertaking a transformative refurbishment at our Glenalina Lodge scheme in Belfast where we are investing in excess of £4 million.

Works include a comprehensive and full electrical rewire, disconnect and replacement of all plumbing pipework, complete fire protection works and fire alarm system overhaul and replacement, including all fire door and escapes, fire compartmentalisation and supportive structural and layout alterations.

This refurbishment is expected to be complete for January 2025.
