Radius Housing & Greentown Environmental host event with gardening expert Keith Crawford
Green-fingered tenants of Radius Housing from across Belfast benefitted from the wisdom of gardening expert Keith Crawford at a special event at Clifton House today. The horticulturalist, who regularly appears on BBC Radio Ulster’s Gardeners’ Corner, provided tips on how to prune roses and sow seeds to make your garden grow.
The event was hosted by Radius Housing and Greentown Environmental, who provide ground maintenance for the housing association, and saw tenants participate in planting and learn about how to get more from their garden.
Keith Crawford is a well-known horticulturalist, and is best known for his contribution to Gardeners’ Corner on BBC Radio Ulster. His gardening ethos is that gardening should always be enjoyable and he tries to share his enthusiasm for all things horticultural in a relaxed and entertaining manner.
Speaking at the event, Aisling McStravick, Director of Assets at Radius Housing, said: “For so many people a bright and welcoming garden is an important part of their home. It gives them somewhere to relax, de-stress and socialise with family and friends. Through our engagement with our tenants we recognised that many of them wanted some support to make the most of their own garden, and with our new partnership with Greentown Environmental on the maintenance and upkeep of our grounds, we set about organising our own Gardeners’ Corner.
“We are delighted that Keith Crawford was able to join our tenants to pass on his expertise. Many of those attending have been listening to his tip on the radio for years, and now they had the chance to ask him how best to take care of their tulips and make the most of their magnolias. At Radius we want our tenants to enjoy their homes to the full, and this Gardeners’ Corner event will hopefully help their homes to bloom.”
