Fold Shortlisted for Royal Town Planning Institute Award

Fold Housing Association''s Glenabbey/Skeoge development located to the north west of Derry~Londonderry''s city centre, has been shortlisted for a prestigious Royal Town Planning Institute Award.
 
Fold''s development has been shortlisted from a record number of entries in the Excellence in Planning for Community and Wellbeing Award category. The development, built by local firm Braidwater, comprises 280 new high quality energy efficient homes, a play park and look out area. The holistic design has been underpinned by a strategic approach to planning which will benefit the health and wellbeing of residents now and in the future.
 
John McLean, Chief Executive, Fold said, ''We are delighted to be shortlisted for such a prestigious national award. We have worked on realising the full potential of the Glenabbey/Skeoge development  for almost 10 years and it is fantastic to see that the homes and living space has been so well received by the new residents and the wider Derry~Londonderrycommunity.''''
 
He added, ''The success of the Glenabbey/Skeoge development has been possible because of the effective collaborative relationships with stakeholder groups such as Derry City Council, Roads Service NI and DoE Planning Service, in bringing the project to fruition''.

The 80 finalists highlight exceptional examples of planning that have made an impact and brought considerable benefits. It will be a tremendous challenge picking individual category winners from such a high quality field.''
 
The RTPI Awards will be announced in London on 6th July 2015.
