Building Future Pathways With School Partnerships

Radius Housing is building pathways into careers in housing with a new Schools Partnership Programme. As part of their wider community engagement, Radius will be working with schools to provide information, guidance and up-skilling as part of careers advice to school children.

Radius staff are collaborating with school leadership and teaching staff to help develop a hands-on support program for their students. This will include CV building workshops, interview practice and coaching, career advice exploring pathways that are open to our school leavers, and work experience opportunities, where students can get a taste of what the workplace may look like.

The aim of the Schools Partnership Programme is designed to bring an industry perspective to schools to enhance student engagement and bring the world of work to life, whilst developing skills, confidence and encouraging young people to take control of their futures.  

As they launch the programme, Radius is keen to increase the reach of the programme and are seeking to include additional schools and colleges into our existing network. Working with schools, they will ensure that programme content is aligned to individual school priorities, ethos and workloads, and threaded seamlessly into their wider curriculum objectives and moreover brings practical skills to the young people within our communities.

Radius Director of HR and Corporate Services, Sharon Patterson said, “The education of our young people is not solely for teachers - community and business organisations have an important role in supporting teachers as they prepare students for further education and work. 

There are many career pathways for school leavers of all ages and ability, and with this programme Radius is making a positive contribution to the lives of students and supporting the transition of school leavers to the world of work. There are so many opportunities in training and work, and it is important that they get a chance to see what is available, particularly is housing.”

Sharon added " We have provided schools with Year 8 starter packs and will be working with our schools network throughout the year, to provide careers advice, interview skills, CV building and much more.”
