Urban Regeneration Award for Ross Street Mews

06 Nov 2025

Radius Housing is proud to announce that our Ross Street Mews development has been named Winner in the Urban Regeneration Category at the 2025 Brick Awards, held last night at the prestigious Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

Now in its 49th year, the Brick Awards celebrate the world’s greatest achievements in clay brick architecture and craftsmanship. As the UK’s longest-running and most respected design awards programme, the Brick Awards recognise excellence, innovation, and enduring quality in architecture and construction.

This year’s competition was particularly strong, with 17 hotly contested categories judged by an independent panel of highly respected industry experts.

Radius Housing was shortlisted in two categories:

  • Urban Regeneration - Ross Street Mews
  • Housing Development - Ross Street Mews

Represented on the evening by Studio Rogers Architects, who designed the scheme alongside Kelly Brothers Building Contractors, Radius Housing was delighted to be announced the winner in Urban Regeneration, marking a significant recognition of the project’s vision and impact.

Located in the Falls area of West Belfast, Ross Street Mews is a £4.8 million housing-led regeneration scheme that demonstrates how small-scale, high-quality development can transform communities and address urgent housing need.

Together, these new homes provide secure, sustainable living for up to 84 residents, directly addressing the acute housing demand in Inner West Belfast, where more than 83% of those on the waiting list experience severe housing stress.

The use of Wienerberger clay brick was central to the project’s design and identity. Reflecting Belfast’s enduring red brick heritage, the chosen materials connect Ross Street Mews to the city’s architectural legacy while signalling renewal and resilience. The result is a streetscape that feels both authentic and forward-looking durable, distinctive, and deeply rooted in place.

Each home in Ross Street Mews achieves an EPC A energy rating, incorporating solar panels, airtight construction, high-performance glazing, and robust insulation to minimise energy demand and combat fuel poverty. South-facing living areas maximise natural light and warmth, while street trees, hedgerows, and native planting enhance biodiversity and the local environment.

Ross Street Mews is already acting as a catalyst for wider regeneration in the area. What was once a neglected corner of West Belfast has been reborn as a welcoming, lived-in neighbourhood, a testament to what can be achieved through thoughtful design, collaboration, and community focus.

For Radius Housing, this award reinforces our mission - to deliver quality homes and stronger communities through innovation, sustainability, and partnership.
